2nd Annual Houstonist Crawfish Boil

Houstonist Crawfish Boil We've never been fans of the work week, but never has our Monday through Friday grind seemed so endless. Time has been creeping along since Monday when we tersely answered your questions about tomorrow's 2nd Annual Houstonist Crawfish boil. Now that it's nearly here we thought it prudent to fill-in a few more of the relative blanks.

Planning and executing last year's boil was more than a bit nerve wracking. "Will people actually show up?" "What if the crawfish don't get delivered?" "What if no one likes the crawfish?" "What color paper towels should we get?" "Can we really get away with punching people in the face for asking us to sprinkle cayenne on the outside of the crawfish?" We're actually still wondering about that one.

No such anxiety this year. This year's boil is going to kick ass.

We had a great time at last year's boil to be certain but felt that a more open space would have helped you enjoy the event more. Plus, nothing makes you feel welcome like unbridled enthusiasm for an event, which is what we got from J.R. at Coffee Groundz in Midtown. Negotiations were very complicated.

Hi. We're Houstonist. What do you think about us having a crawfish boil here?

Yes! Done! How can I help you?

The Coffee Groundz team will have drink specials and other food options available should you not be the crawfish eating type. Get there early to stake out your spot on the patio and watch us get things set-up.

We also thought it'd be nice to give back to the community at large instead of just our readers. Nothing says love like food. The Houston Food Bank doles out love all the time - never more in recent history than during the aftermath of Hurricane Ike. We're asking you to help us replenish their food stores by contributing canned goods and other victuals they really need.

And, finally, we thought we'd give you a bit more to be excited about other than pigging out on all you can eat crawfish with your buddies. Thanks to BoilCrawfish.com we'll be giving away over $200 worth of some truly first class boiling gear: an 80 quart boiling pot & basket, a jet burner guaranteed to get things hot and a paddle to stir it up (or paddle yourself to safety after the next Ike). They have an express shipping option that can still get your Mother's Day gift to mom's house tomorrow.

We'll have food, fun and Art Cars on hand, so stop by Coffee Groundz around four o'clock tomorrow. Can't make it then? No sweat. Follow us on Twitter for updates about the boil (like when the next batch is coming out) and to stay up-to-date with all things Houstonist.
