So now that we've officially sobered up recuperated enough to write coherently — or as coherently as we ever do — we want to take a second to thank everyone who showed up at The Coffee Groundz on Saturday for the 2nd Annual Houstonist Crawfish Boil. We think almost all our 11 readers made it, and they brought 139 of their closest friends. Now that's a party.
Now that the dust has settled and we've managed to get the crawfishy smell out of the U-Haul, we want to single out some folks for Houstonist gratitude. Thanks to J.R. Cohen and his Coffee Groundz staff for taking care of us, holding down the fort at two bars and basically giving us run of the property, which was great for boiling mudbugs but not so hot for the students who thought they would have a quiet afternoon of study at the tables that suddenly appeared in the drive-thru. Oops. Thanks also to BoilCrawfish.com, which generously donated a pot, burner and paddle for our door prize, which we gave away to someone whose name we don't know (did we mention there was beer?). As always, big thanks to the super-dedicated Houstonist staff members — Groovehouse, Ignacio, Kaylan, KSG, Mark, Michelle, Monica and Rob — for helping with everything from unrolling orange safety fence to hauling crawfish pots to keeping track of which T-shirts were for ladies and which were for mans. And finally, thanks to everyone who took advantage of our canned-goods-for-discounted-crawfish deal: All told, we collected about 400 pounds of food for the Houston Food Bank.
Stay tuned for info on next year's crawfish boil — we really do appreciate all the feedback you guys gave us about this year's version, and we're working to iron out the rough spots and make Boil 3.0 completely kickass.

Wish I could have made it!
Ditto what Hector said, and sorry I couldn't make the Art Car Parade either. But dayam! 400 pounds of food for the Food Bank is mighty effing awesome.
I think Rudkin, GH and I liberated at least one lucky crawfish per bag
