Daily-ist Tuesday: Brian O'Neill's 5K Running Club

051209_running.jpg Got a few extra pounds of crawfish you need to burn off before heading to Galveston's lovely beaches in your mankini? Houstonist can think of no better motivation than an ice cold beer waiting for us at the end of a three-mile run (5 kilometers = 3.1 miles).

For the past six months, Brian O'Neill's Irish Pub in Rice Village has been sponsoring a running club whereby participants meet at the bar, run the 3-mile loop around Rice University (if you want to be an overacheiver, you can add in the loop around Hermann Park, which brings you to five miles), then return to the bar for free food and discounted drink specials.

The group meets every Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., and the run starts at 6. To increase your incentive to exercise consistently, they've also set up a deal where if you complete 10 runs with the club you'll get a fancy quick-dry t-shirt and discounts to Fleet Feet in Rice Village.
