Daily-ist Tuesday: Wheatfield Reunion at The Duck

060209_TFIA_.jpg Wheatfield was a band that formed in Houston in the 1970s after the three original members met during a talent show at Lamar High School. They played throughout Texas, headlining a young Austin City Limits, before disbanding in 1979.

Ezra Idlet, a founder of Wheatfield, met Keith Grimwood during the Wheatfield days and the duo later went on to form the band Trout Fishing in America. The folk-pop band has been nominated for Grammys four times for children's band of the year.

Every so often TFiA plays the Mucky Duck in what they call their on-off Wheatfield Reunion Show, including other members of Wheatfield. They'll be playing tonight as both bands to promote TFiA's newest release, "My Name is Chicken Joe."

By the way, yesterday was The Duck's 19th anniversary.
