FRIDAY
Caroline Collective's open house, a year ago.
- 8 p.m. — KUHF presents Metropolis, probably the greatest silent film ever at Discovery Green, 1500 McKinney in Downtown. This film has been rained out twice, so here's hoping for better weather. Original music performed live by the Golden Hornet Project. Free.
SATURDAY
- 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. — Check out a "Living Book" at Houston Public Library's first Living Library event, where people who have been chosen to be a public representative of a certain part of the community will be available for "check-out" by library customers for 30-minute conversations on various topics. Books available will include interracial couples, a death row advocate, a Sikh woman, a Muslim woman, and a Latin American woman who is also African American. Sounds interesting. See the link for more details. Free, at the Central Library, 500 McKinney in Downtown.
- 6-10 p.m. — Caroline Collective 1-Year Anniversary Party. Houston's
favorite coworking space, at 4820 Caroline Street in the Museum District, is having a huge party featuring sponsors like Sweet Leaf Tea, St. Arnolds, and Tacos A-Go-Go. The event will also include a group photography show with local Houston photogs like Lance Bradford, music by (You)genius and more.
SUNDAY
- 8:30-10:30 p.m. — Learn to swing dance with the Houston Swing Dance Society, every Sunday night. Classes are $7 for members and $5 for non-members. Come with or without a partner, you'll be forced to dance with everyone anyway.
