abandoned house
by el_en_houston
An all too common sight as neighborhoods become gentrified. Gone are the days of one single family home sitting on a lot. Now, developers try to cram as money poorly built structures on a lot as greed overtakes them. Why sell one $650,000 home when you can sell six? The poor construction is what we are laughing at now as some of those new residences built 5-10 years ago are already showing horrible signs of aging and shoddy construction.

Some developers may be greedy and some may produce poorly constructed homes (or both), but the idea that it is greed on the part of the developer that drives them to put six townhomes on a lot that used to have one regular home and that all of these new places are poorly built is ridiculous. Developers build these places because there is a demand for them. A lot of people are now looking for a more urban lifestyle, close to all of the things that Houston has to offer. They are interested in owning a nice spacious home without the hassle of maintaining a large lot. People demand it and Houston offers it at affordable prices. If you don't like it then take it up with the people snapping up townhomes inside the loop as fast as the builders can build them. What point are you attempting to make concerning the abandoned house?
Wow. it reminds me of my old garage apt on Fargo near Converse. I always knew when company came over because the whole apt. would shake as they came up the stairs.
