H-Town Rock

For the Week of June 29th - July 1st, 2009

religiousgirls.jpg In case you were wondering, we made it out of Friday alive and had a great weekend along the way. Now, let's get down to the business of getting down this week.

We'll bypass the electric blues at Boondocks and the pop punk throwbacks at The Mink on Monday because we're pretty intrigued by the Our Brother The Native, Religious Girls show that'll be stopping at Mango's. Seriously, just take a look at this poster on the right and tell us you could possibly resist attending.

Tuesday's white trash fest at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, while certain to be a mullet frenzy, is highly passable. On the other hand, we may travel back in time to before grunge died and check out the House of Blues show. If you are not sure what to do and enjoy the avant garde, we recommend heading out to Super Happy Fun Land.

Wednesday's offerings are a bit more limited than usual. If you're into local garage rock then we suggest heading over to The Mink. You'll find us over at Walter's on Washington for a trio of pretty good songwriters, sipping on that straight-from-the-tap Lone Star.
