The Roundwall Rumble: Can You Feel It?

rumblepool.jpg
This where it all goes down. The Roundwall Rumble happens here.
This rumble doesn't involve the Sharks and the Jets. This is a rumble in a pool and not a pool filled with water. The Roundwall Rumble is a skate competition and it's going down this Saturday!

This past year has been a great year in Houston skateboarding. The addition of the Lee and Joe Jamail Skatepark to the city's park system has put Houston on the map once again in the skateboarding world.

In one year, we have seen local events multiply including a first of its kind all female event, a street contest and even a World Cup Skateboarding event which brought out pros from all over the world including Denmark and Brazil.

rumbleflyer.jpg There won't be anyone from Denmark or Brazil at this event, that we know of, but there will be a lot of homegrown talent and they will be airing, ripping and shredding the pool at the Jamail Skatepark competing for $500 in cash as well as prizes. Riders in the competition will receive free water, Gatorade and Red Bull. Did we mention there's no entry fee? The only caveat to entering this competition is that the rider must be able to drop in to the bowl. Which in layman's terms means they start from the edge of the pool and not in it.

So come on out Saturday night to the Lee and Joe Jamail Skatepark for some guaranteed skateboard action. The event starts at 6pm. The seating and viewing area is limited, so get there early. Parking is available on Sabine Street and if no parking is available on the street, parking at the Fonde Recreation center on the corner of Sabine and Memorial is available. Watch for No Parking signs as the city is not opposed to towing or giving tickets along the Sabine Street Bridge.
