President Obama will be drinking beer with professor Henry Gates and Sergeant James Crowley at the White House. The goal is to talk out the incident that has dominated the news any time people got tired of talking about Michael Jackson's death. Fortunately, now the media is focused on a truly important topic.
What kind of beer will the president and his beer buddies be swilling? Reports indicate that Mr. Obama will drink Bud Light. Mr. Gates will opt for a Red Stripe. And, Mr. Crowley will down a Blue Moon.
Those beer choices, particularly the president's, left Houstonist talking to ourselves. "Bud Light?" "Really?" "Really?" "What the?" "Huh."
Our question for you is...
The poll closes at 6 PM today!

Missed Connections: Gefilte Fish...and "Chain Connections"

Southern Star Bombshell Blonde Ale
Southern Star Pale Ale. Best Texas beer by a long shot, and perfect for awkward conversations.
Awkward conversations, eh? Hays, you should know better than anyone.
Alternate version: Awkward conversations, eh? Hays, have I ever told you that you sure have a pretty mouth?
Southern Star Pale Ale?
Please tell me you're kidding.
Who does this "Rob Hays" imbecile think he is?
(My vote is for St. Arnold's Christmas Ale. That's what Jesus would drink if he were in the Whitehouse. I mean, it *is* named for him, after all.)
St Arnold's Summer Pils. Even though it's seasonal.
I dig Summer Pils, too. But didn't list it in the poll for exactly that reason. Thanks for voting.
president obama made a great beer choice
1. supporting big business
2. mass approved beer
3. its so light and watery that he can focus on mediation
way to go you other 2 fellas.
i'd put st. arnold lawnmower in the fridge but i picked shiner bock.
Ideally Springbock or Oktoberfest or Christmas Ale from Sain Arnold's would make my top list but Amber is year around so I am okay with that.
I stock my fridge with anything Saint Arnold, but Spring Bock is my fave by far! One time at Central Market I threw a tantrum cause there was no Spring Bock and it was Spring time! So the beer guy, Cesar, ordered it for me. The End. :)
Why is Obama drinking Bud Light, a Belgian-Brazilian beer? Just because it used to be American is no excuse. Chicago has a great local brewery. Also Sam Adam's is the LARGEST American OWNED beer company.
Same for others. Blue Moon is half Coors owned which is a Canadian company now, and half Miller owned which is a Mexican-South African company. Red Strip is Jamacian.
Beer? The White House needs a still! It's All-American to make your own! =P
What's with this "order-your-beer-in-advance" BS? Are we taxpayers paying for this? Everybody gets a Keystone Light.
If Mr. President were as great as so many say he is, he would have had his own homebrew ready to serve for such an occasion. Beyond that, from the list, I wouldn't mind having an Amber or a Big Bark.
I have to agree with Jennifer and Rob - the new kid "Southern Star" has my vote, no matter which of their beers (have Pine Belt and Blonde Bombshell in the 'fridge always) - sorry St. A and Shiner - I've switched my Texas choice...
As far as outside of Texas - Let's Talk Stone Brewery's Arogant Bastard Ale - also in the frig...
