For the Week of August 3rd - August 5th
We suppose we can forgive the light week in concert-land, what with a fairly massive celebration going down this weekend. But still, we'd like to see a little more going on this week.
Monday offers you the chance to see [for free] HPMA Best Jazz winners Free Radicals with Nosaprise at Boondocks, and Houstonist thinks it is worth every penny that you can spend on drinks instead of the door. The Super Happy Fun Land show looks intriguing too, but we'll be saving our weekly trip for later.
Tuesday has two shows at Warehouse Live, so don't get them confused. The Cab's "What Happens In Vegas" tour - which evidently does not stay in Vegas - will roll through with several pop-rock bands in tow. Houstonist will politely pass on what is sure to be a room filled with crazed teen hormones and an overabundance of Axe - you'll find us in the next room, soaking up Atmosphere's rhymes.
Wednesday brings us some ridiculously precise metal in the form of Tennessee's The Showdown. We once saw them play a festival where the singer informed us [and do try to read this with the thickest Southern accent possible], "Y'all ain't rowdy enuff! I want yew to brang this tent down like a pile of toofpicks!" Houstonist would like to see everybody pop by Super Happy Fun Land to catch one of our local favorites, Ghost Mountain. Our plan is to catch them before heading to Walter's for Seattle's Barcelona.
