One part hip hop, one part Big Top, UniverSoul Circus is the only African-American owned-and-operated circus traveling the United States, and it comes to Houston for five days starting tonight.
The circus features performers from 11 different countries performing modernized versions of traditional circus acts to hip hop hits. A female impersonator (a.k.a. "The Clown") gives Beyonce a run for her money, while a bungee-jumping troupe (modern-day trapeze?) swing to Outkast.
Other acts include the Rough Riders horseback performers and the dizzying Wheel of Death (see video above). If you want a sneak preview of the show, videos abound on YouTube.
