::Matt Messinger Artist Reception at Block 7 Wine Co.::

Sure, we asked ourselves the same question: Does Washington Ave. really need another wine bar? With what seems to be droves and droves of ex-midtowners flocking to the new scene at "the Wash" (a nickname that we don't even care to point out it's ironic negative implication), we were also a bit skeptical of the additional of what seems to be an excessive number of vino drinkeries.

However, after experiencing Block 7's soft opening (official opening weekend is Aug 14-16th) and subsequent wine tastings, unique full restaurant menu, at cost bottle price (yup), and in-house art gallery, we had to agree that this was not a frivolous addition. This is food and wine and art done right. And we're excited to see what comes of it.

Block 7 is teaming up with Spacetaker to present artist works in their in-house Gallery each month. Debut exhibit by mixed media artist Matt Messigner has been on display since the wine bar's soft opening in late July. Tonight, Messinger invites art (and wine) fans for an informal reception to view his work.
