H-Town Rock

lisassons.jpg For the week of August 10th-12th

Wow Houston, just wow. You fully rocked it at Free Press Summer Fest this weekend. We are officially exhausted and enthralled, and looking forward to a nice calm week of music.

You'll find Houstonist tonight at The Corkscrew, taking in a trio of talented local songwriters: Sara Van Buskirk, Taylor Lee [of Lazlo, Finnegan, and The Literary Greats] and Brandon Elam [of The Literary Greats]. We could really use a relaxing evening and a glass of red wine after the crazy weekend.

Tuesday's pretty barren, unfortunately, but we might take it as an opportunity to finally catch The Umbrella Man's gig at The Continental Club. The prospect of attending songwriter's night at Mucky Duck is also in our minds. We'll just have to see what happens.

Wednesday, our adolescence would love to catch Our Lady Peace at House of Blues - Happiness is Not a Fish You Can Catch still finds itself in heavy rotation in our collection. We're pretty broke after Summer Fest, though, and we'll most likely wind up at Mango's to catch the Houston-Austin dance-pop collaboration Lisa's Sons.

As promised, calendar is after the jump.
