Help Texas Firefighters While Boozing

081109_jimbeam.jpg The Terry Farrell Fund's special commemorative Jim Beam label will be unveiled for the first time in Texas this Friday, August 14th. Named after one of the 343 brothers to perish in the September 11th attacks, the fund provides monetary assistance to firefighters and their families to support educational, equipment and medical needs.

Bourbon, whiskey, tequila, rum and cognac will be sampled in special cocktails at different booths celebrating the liquors and their respective countries of origin. Finger foods complementing these cocktails will be served, so it's probably not a bad idea to eat a carb-loaded dinner before hand to keep you from getting loaded.

If booze isn't enticing enough, Terry's brother, Brian Farrell and local firefighters will be in attendance to honor Farrell's memory and promote the cause as well as Fred Noe, master distiller of Jim Beam Bourbon Whiskey (Jim Beam's great grandson-how's that for a legacy?). Plus, Houstonist will be there, taking pictures and boozing our way through the globe, and who doesn't want to see that?

The party will be at the Bay Area Community Center, 5001 Nasa Parkway, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets are $30/person or $50/couple, with all proceeds benefitting Texas firefighters. Visit the Terry Farrell Fund's website to purchase tickets, www.terryfarrellfund.org.
