Hear that sad sound this weekend? Those are the weeps of students who are headed back to school. Here are a few pick-me-ups for them (and you) this weekend.
FRIDAY
- 6 p.m. — Lawndale 30th Anniversary exhibition openings, with artists' talks. Three exhibitions open tonight including a retrospective of Lawndale's last five years. Free, 4912 Main Street.
SATURDAY
- 6 p.m. — HIWI: Ike book release in conjunction with Galveston's Art Walk. Houston. It’s Worth It. IKE will be shown at Galveston Arts Center in Exile 2, a temporary location at 2501 Market Street at Rosenberg (formerly Maceo’s). The Art For All exhibition will be held at Moody Mansion, 2618 Broadway. Both shows will remain on view through October 4 and are free and open to the public.
SUNDAY
- 1-5 p.m. — Pop-Up Vintage Shop hosted by Sew Crafty, featuring vintage shoes, clothes, home decor and more for sale (or just for admiring).
