For the Weekend of September 3rd - 6th
Ah, that's much better. Look at all that music down there, just waiting to be seen. What's that? You can't see it? Well you will after the jump. Houstonist wants you to go out and see some shows - after all, you haven't got work on Monday, so enjoy yourselves.
Tonight, we'll be kicking off the weekend with some of the finest in H-pop as we visit The Continental Club to catch Wild Moccasins. We'll be following that up on Friday with a trip to Super Happy Fun Land to see five fantastic acts that we're certain you won't know but should definitely check out in person. Also of note is the Giant Battle Monster CD release show at Mango's, which happens to feature one of Houstonist's favorite local groups, Female Demand.
Saturday we'll make our weekly pilgrimage to Cactus Music for some afternoon beer and great music, this time courtesy of brilliant local songwriter Robert Ellis. We'll pass on D12 and (hed) PE - we want to make sure that we catch The Julys at The Mink. Seriously, they're fantastic and no one knows them yet so get on that train early. Then, take a walk with us down to the other corner and capitalize on your opportunity to see Houston legend Archie Bell.
We'll be polishing off our weekend with a tall, cool Budweiser another stop at The Mink to catch the debut of a band we're quite excited about, The Energy. Heck, we'll even thrown in a bonus because Monday is Labor Day and stop at Boondocks for Grandfather Child, and we'll get a bonus in return - Female Demand!
