Pinball! Did you know that modern day pinball is derived from a French table game called bagatelle? While bagatelle is a spin off of billiards, it wasn't until the 18th century when French soldiers brought their bagatelle games over to the fledgling colonies to help the Americans fight the British that the idea of pinball would soon be born. About 80 years later around 1869, a new American and former British inventor, Montague Redgrave would settle in Cincinnati, Ohio and rework a bagatelle machine to use a plunger and coil replacing the cue sticks of bagatelle and pinball was born!
