Rock Talk, Vol. V

rocktalk3.jpg We're sure you been eagerly anticipating this week's installment of Rock Talk. Houstonist has been diligently hoarding tidbits of local music news like some nut-crazed squirrel packing for winter. Here's what you may have missed.

Runaway Sun managed to sell out their CD Release at the Continental Club. You can read a recap of it on their blog.

You can now look completely awesome in one of these Fat Tony t-shirts.

The Goods are promising that their new EP is almost finished and will be available from the fine folks at Mia Kat Empire. Houstonist loves that dirty garage rock, so we're looking forward to hearing it.

Muhammid Ali just wrapped up a Texas jaunt with The Sleepies and LegSweeper. Hopefully you caught the show at Boondocks. Here's some photos from the tour.

Mirm [Meme in the Rhythm Machine] posted a new remix track done for Ernesto Gonzales. We think it's excellent.

The Jonx announced their upcoming album, Vocabularian Herds, complete with cover art. There's a few samples up on their site as well.

GTRS will be playing their last show as locals on Saturday night. Rumor has it that attendees will be in for some fine surprises, including an adult-oriented piƱata. We've been told to bring a blank shirt for screening. They've also got a pair of new tracks up on MySpace from their upcoming split LP with Melbourne's Spider Vomit.

Finally, Houstonist will be launching a sexy new interview feature this week called "Get to Know a Houston Band..." We decided to kick it off by talking with GTRS before they leave town.

Until next week, Rock Talk is over.
