Oh my goodness, Houstonist is SO overwhelmed by everything that is happening this weekend.
ALL WEEKEND
- Spacetaker's Winter Holiday Art Market, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (see link for hours). Winter Street Studios, 2101 Winter Street. Free to get in but bring cash if you want to shop.
- Via Colori Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Sam Houston Park, Allen Parkway and Bagby. Free to get in, but donation and proceeds go towards the Center for Hearing and Speech.
FRIDAY
- 6 p.m. — Opening reception for new exhibits at Lawndale Art Center. Artist talks at 6 p.m. The works will be on display through January 9. Free, 4912 Main Street.
- 10 p.m. — Fistful of Soul record dance party at the Mink, featuring food by Ray's Franks. Free, 3718 Main St.
SATURDAY
- 10 a.m. — Need a helmet? The Houston Parks Board is donating 50 top-of-the-line helmets to the first 50 kids under16 who need and want a helmet, at the Jamail Skate Park. Helmets are required to skate in the park. Plus, they're a good idea any time. Free, 103 Sabine Street.
- 10 a.m. — Your Bright Future: Contemporary Art from Korea open at the MFAH, through Feb. 14. This looks awesome, but Houstonist has a soft spot for all things Korean, having lived there for more than two years. Free with membership, $7 otherwise. 1001 Bissonnet at Main.
- 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. — Art Crawl Houston, one of our favorite annual events. Wander the warehouses of northeast downtown, drink free wine and see work from local artists. Free. See map here.
- 7 p.m. — Opening at Blossom Street Gallery, featuring Reaction, a collection of found object-based work by Dirty Bird Studios. Free, 4809 Blossom Street.
- 10 p.m. — Reverberations at Boondocks. Dance to garage rock, psych, blue and more from the '60s. Free, 1417 Westheimer.
