5 Reasons You Should Attend Today's Lost In Space Fest

lostinspacefest.jpg H-Town Rock has been insanely busy this week. Unfortunately, the real world job took over and robbed all the time that we had, forcing us to neglect some of our lesser duties. However, we would be remiss if we didn't mention today's Lost In Space Fest at The Mekong Skyline aka the rooftop at 2808 Milam, and why you ought to be there.

5. Location, Location, Location - This thing is on a rooftop! It's only the second story, yes, but it's the rooftop nonetheless. We've been by Khon's several times, and not only do they have some swell beers, but a great staff as well. Plus, have you seen how gorgeous the weather is today? Rooftop!

4. Bang For Your Buck - There are fourteen, count 'em, FOURTEEN acts scheduled to play. This thing will only run you a meager $10. That's approximately 70 cents per act if you happen to catch them all.

3. Ray's Franks - Have you had a hot dog from Ray's yet? If the answer is no, we recommend you drop what you're doing and go there NOW. Good ol' Aaron Danger will be there, serving out dogs for the masses, so make sure you bring a few bucks for chow.

2. Lance, Marcus, & Meghan - H-Town Rock is proud to know these fine cats, all accomplished local musicians with probably a dozen projects between them, and is particularly excited to see what they've put together. They've selected some fine bands to play their spacey-shoegaze-noise-weirdness festival, and possess the ambition to turn this into a yearly event. We're in favor of anyone who's trying to make Houston a better place for music.

1. The Lineup - So maybe you're saying to yourself, "that's all well and good, but what about the bands?" We won't deny that you raise a proper point. Rest assured, however, that even though you might not have heard several of the musicians this lineup is stacked. Golden Cities, Ghost Town Electric, Limb, Forests have all piqued our interest at prior shows, and our heavy hitting favorites Ghost Mountain are in the mix. The night will be capped off by B L A C K I E, noise-rapper extraordinaire and one of Houston's most engaging showmen. There's a few acts we don't know, but if the aforementioned trio in raison deux saw fit to add them to the bill, we'll take a chance and listen eagerly.

So, to make our long story short, drop the ten bones in the bucket and catch what ought to be a great show. If you catch the show, let us know what you thought of it, too.
