Rock Talk, Vol. XI

Daaaang - it's bonus time! We don't mean paychecks, either - we've got a bonus week of Houston music news for you this round. Ok, so our real world job got in the way and we didn't post last week. We prefer to think of it in the former situation, though. There's a lot to check out in this installment, so get to it!

Tunes
The Energy have a new tune up on MySpace called Perfectly Possessed. Crank it. That's an order.

After you're done with that, go check out the newest Muhammid Ali offering, Someday. It's been floating around the live set for a bit, and we're grateful to finally be able to press play at home.

Fat Tony dropped us a new track this week, Like Hell Yeah, and while this one may have been online for a while it popped up in our Twitter stream this week, so go download yourself a Fat Tony demo, Lotus as well.

hasHBrown put his album Sounds From The Back Seat up for download.

We found out that Hollywood Floss [who we rather dug at Block Party] was up to something sneaky over Thanksgiving - recording an EP worth of tracks and then handing them off to two different people. You can grab both versions of the mixtape.

Songwriter Maryanna Sokol gives us a "super sneak peek" at some tracks form her upcoming album, Landfill.

Videos
Something Fierce was on the latest installment of Live From Sugar Hill. If you missed it, make sure you watch the whole episode, as it also features King Khan & The BBQ show.

Female Demand wants you to pick up their new EP. We do as well.

The Sideshow Tramps have been recording a new album at Sugar Hill Studios with the talented Steve Christensen, and you can catch a little taste via YouTube.

You(Genious) made an appearance in Joe Mathlete's living room.

News, etc.
The Lightnin' Hopkins historical marker that we mentioned recently is one step closer to a reality. Donations are still needed to make it happen, however - read more about it on the Houston Press.

Due to a busy schedule of late we've been unable to conduct more interviews for our Get to Know a Houston Band feature, but fear not, because it will return with a vengeance in 2010. For now, chew on these interviews with Somosuno and A Thousand Cranes by Rich Kimball.

Andrew Karnavas is in the middle of recording his solo record. Here's a recap of a recording session in Clark Gable's old house. Did we mention it's Katharine Shilcutt's residence now? Here's a little tease from her iPhone.

A Dream Asleep has been getting some press, and wants you to be in their video, complete with keg party theme, Saturday.

Houston's finest in grungy noise rap, B L A C K I E, will be unleashing his next collection of tracks as a cassette at Black Christmas. We'll be there.

Paula May has been taking a break from shows to help out her ailing father, but has been using the downtime to finish of her upcoming album, Miss L.A.

Thee Armada will be calling it quits in January. No hard feelings, but Josh got offered a shot at something he couldn't pass. The other guys are already working on new music for a new project to come.

Continuing along the things that we'll be making sure to catch theme: The Jonbenét's FINAL show will be at Walter's on December 19th. Make sure you're there with us.
