For the weekend of January 7th-10th, 2010
Yes, the weekend is going to be cold. That doesn't mean you should stay home and skip out on all the music going on as well. Here's Houstonist's picks for the weekend.
We'll start out tonight with 29-95.com's free concert series at The Continental Club, which returns from holiday hiatus this week with Carl Hayn & The Holdouts for our honky-tonkin' fix. Then on Friday we'll head over to Mango's where we'll drop five duckets to catch The Wiggins and Giant Princess.
Houstonist would be remiss if we didn't mention Willie's appearance at the Arena Theatre on Saturday, but with tickets at ninety bucks a pop, it's unlikely that we'll make it. Instead, our thrifty selves will either be found out Continental Club for Runaway Sun or The Mink for Ragged Hearts. We might even trudge over to Super Happy Fun Land for FPH's Worst of Houston party.
If this were a different weekend Houstonist might head over to the Continental Club to check out the new Sunday residency: Houston Funk Factory. However, chances are we'll be found at Super Happy Fun Land for Giant Battle Monster's frenetic math-rock. If avant-garde folk is your thing, don't miss our friend Warbler at The Mink.
