Rock Talk, Vol. XV

rock box.jpg We had an unexpectedly busy week, so enjoy this latest Rock Talk installment with a few days of bonus coverage. Here's what we found while scrounging through the Houston music sphere - there's a lot of videos this week.

Tunes
Hollywood Floss has two new tracks up on Bandcamp, available at name-your-price [minimum of 50 cents], but you can listen to them for free.

Fingers Crossed has a new EP, entitled Semester of Stress that you can download for free.

Videos
Let's start with this. Holy hell, have you seen Benjamin Wesley's new video for People Will Never Stop Being Crazy? Ben's an easy favorite with us, but the folks over at 808 Inc did a phenomenal job.

Airon Paul Dugas played a solo set at Mango's, including this cover of Little Feat's Willin'

Horse, aka Giant Princess guitarist Fernando “Nous” Nava, showed up in Joe Mathlete's living room with a really nice cover of Kermit the Frog's Rainbow Connection.

In fact, Joe's been posting some bonus songs from several Live From My Living Room sessions, including Young Mammals, Elaine Greer, and Woozyhelmet. Many thanks to Joe for what is one of our favorite recurring music features in town [even if it is for Hearst, sigh].

You can catch a pretty lo-fi video [iPhone, perhaps?] of a Football, etc. song from their house show. Also give a look to this video of PJ Bond playing the same room.

Jud Johnson and his band are releasing a new CD at House of Blues on February 5th. You can find out more via this promo video.

News, etc.
Scale the Summit is out on tour again, this time with metal heavyweights Between the Buried and Me. You can follow along on their tour blog. Also, Chris has a new guitar technique book out, if you're interested.

Western Civilization has promised they'll be re-emerging soon. We can personally vouch that they have been in the studio writing, and we're looking forward to a resurgence.

The Burden's Catholic Guilt EP is now available over at NSG Records.

Balaclavas new LP Roman Holiday will be released on Dull Knife February 13th at a show with Indian Jewelry and Dead Roses. It'll also feature a coupon for mp3s of the tracks for everyone that's digitally minded.

While splitting time between here and New Orleans [for school], Caddywhompus are staying busy. They announced a host of news this week, including an upcoming split 7" with sIngs in March, a full length out April 30th on Community Records, and some January/February dates with New Orleans' Smiley With A Knife.

World's Most Dangerous is working on a new album, and wouldn't mind your input on helping name it.

Lastly, some weird shit is going down over at Space City Rock. Jeremy's a dear friend of ours, and words can't describe the bizarre situation that has arisen. Screw off, haters.
