H-Town Rock

For the week of January 18th - 20th, 2010

Well it was quite a weekend for ol' Houstonist: a few good concerts, closing Leon's Lounge, and a healthy serving of booze. Fortunately for us, this town never runs out of shows for us to go see.

Our apologies to the cute punker Jemina Pearl, who will be at The Mink, but did you see that Warehouse Live lineup? Oh, you haven't yet because it's listed below all of our rambling - well, Bun B has gathered together a huge ol' mess of rappers to put on a benefit concert raising money to provide relief for Haiti. With a lineup that stacked and a cause that noble, Houstonist will have no other choice but to be there.

We've heard some good things about The Hustler's Brass Band [complete with free red beans and rice] over at Charlie's Big Top. In fact, Houstonist has made a personal vow to catch them soon. However we also spied Cavernous on the lineup at Jet Lounge and we've been jonesing for some of their instrumental metal brutality ever since we caught them at the Westheimer Block Party.

After all that, we'll need something a tad more mellow in the middle of our week. We say a tad because Houstonist plans to go see the multi-talented Joe B at Bohemeo's, and if you've never seen Joe, his performances can hit pretty hard.
