Houstonist: There's an App for That

In the beginning of Houstonist on your phone, there was plain old Houstonist.com; it was good. Then, there was Houstonist Mobile; it was better. Now there's a Houstonist mobile app. It's mo betta faster.

The technical wizards at Gothamist released the Istaverse application for iPhones. Users of the application can quickly flip between the 13 sites in the Istaverse. The ist app also pulls down the content locally your crack phone to enable story browsing when you're away from a cell signal - like when you're in the tunnels downtown or flying above cell signals in places like Transco Tower.

To be fair, this app is designed to be as simple as possible. In short, you get stories from the ist you choose, but that's about it. There's no commenting, sharing or tweeting of stories. You should continue to hit the mobile site to get that functionality. However, a more robust version of the application that provides increased functionality is just around the corner.
