3rd Annual Rory Miggins Memorial Irish Stew Cook-Off

Houston should have a nice, partly sunny day tomorrow. Mother Nature's timing could not be any better, as it clears up for the 3rd Annual Rory Miggins Memorial Irish Stew Cook-off, located this year at the Continental Club. The festivities will commence at 3700 Main Street at high noon straight up 1:00 p.m., with entertainment both inside and outside until 6:00 p.m. Admission to this fine event, for a finer cause, is only $10 and includes live music, Irish dancing, great food, a Guinness Beer Relay and more (like raffles, which means prizes). Not only is the admission a bargain, this is a wonderful afternoon activity, well, gaggle of activities, conveniently located. Your price of admission helps fund the St. Patrick's Day Parade and honors a great local Irish-American, Rory Miggins.

We had thought about giving you some information about Rory Miggins, and his contributions to our great city. In searching for details (our memory is sometimes, well, lacking), we found John Nova Lomax, of the HoustonPress, and a great memorial, with local personalities and musicians remembrances.
