Yes, it's true - The Flaming Lips will headline Free Press Houston's second installment of Summerfest. If you're not sure what to expect, here's a little something of which you should probably be aware.
Dates for this year's festival are June 5th and 6th - which Juggie from Pegstar informed us are on average 10ยบ cooler than last year's August dates. Omar Afra of FPH also informed us that Summerfest 2010 would see the addition of a third stage, full closure of Allen Parkway, and better logistics overall. This will include drop shipment of all tickets ordered by May and fancy schmancy electronic scanners to combat last year's long entrance lines. Hey, considering that they cobbled together last year's festival in just over two months, we thought they did a fine job. Over 50 local and regional acts [mostly Houston, but we see a few Austin/Dallas names in there] will be performing as well, part of FPH's continued commitment to showcasing local talent. These include the following:
- Golden Axe
- Grandfather Child
- The Mahas
- Black Congress
- Dissent
- Fat Tony
- Young Mammals
- B L A C K I E
- Robert Ellis
- Sideshow Tramps
- Giant Princess
- The Small Sounds
- Spain Colored Orange
- Muhammid Ali
- Wild Moccasins
- Buxton
- 30 Foot Fall
- Somosuno
- The Takes
- Ghost Mountain
- Elaine Greer
- The Watermarks
- Rusted Shut
- The Eastern Sea
- Sharks and Sailors
- Perseph One
- Yippa
- American Fangs
- Hell City Kings
- I Am Mesmer
- ListenListen
- Check Other
- Hollywood Floss
- The Manichean
- Leg Sweeper
- Chase Hamblin
- Shina Rae
- Guerilla Foco Clan
- LIMB
- Ceeplus Bad Knives
- DJ Czech One
- Prince Klassen
- DJ Jester
- DJ Richard Gear
- Damon Allen
- Grrrl Parts
- Fredster
- Johnny Moon

Tickets are available now at www.freepresssummerfest.com, and we suggest snatching them up quick - your two-day pass will only cost $22.50, and this thing may very well sell out this year. Free Press, to you we offer a hearty salute. Bravo! We can't wait for two days of amazingness in Tinsley Park.
