For the weekend of February 18th - 21st, 2010
Another weekend, and another slew of concerts here in town - why not go see some? Fortunately, Houstonist has hand-selected some fine shows for you to attend.
Start the weekend off right by heading over to Super Happy Fun Land and treat your ears to some music from Mad Marionettes. Houstonist must admit, though, that we're quite curious as to what Thunderado will sound like - so let us know if you wander down to Charlie's Big Top.
Friday we'll wind up back at Super Happy Fun Land for a most excellent act, Robbers. If you head over to NiaMoves to see Mike Doughty of Soul Coughing, be aware - he's playing two shows, so make sure to check the time on that ticket. It's always nice to see The Flamin' Hellcats out and about again, and radio heavies Switchfoot will be playing in the round - well, at Arena Theatre that is.
Saturday Houstonist will be donning our flannel and paying our respects to the late Kurt Cobain, who would have turned 43 this year, by going to see Dann Miller's latest cover band, Danneurysm, at Big Star Bar. It's a tough pick to make, too - The Caprolites will unleash they're trashy punk at Notsuoh, Electric Attitude will have a live brass section behind them at Walter's, and Holy Fiction will be celebrating their new release at Warehouse Live in support of The 71's and The Wonderful Future. Glasnost has a video-game themed night set for Mango's, as well.
We'll be capping off our weekend with the latest installment of Lance Higdon's Resonant Interval Sound Series to see what experimental wackiness he's brought in this week. If roots/dub music is your thing, make sure to hit up Mango's for Eleven Fingered Charlie.
As always, we really don't care what you go see, as long as you go see something.
