Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening of Eastwood Park

Tomorrow, the festivities at Houston's Eastwood Park commence with a news conference and ribbon cutting with Mayor Annise Parker. Eastwood Park, which serves over 13,000 residents in the Greater East End community is the first Boundless Playground in Houston. Made possible by a $250,000 grant from CVS Caremark All Kids Can and $183,000 from the Houston Parks and Recreation, the park is designed to serve children of all abilities.

The event will include free health screenings (blood pressure, osteoporosis, cholesterol, etc.), a youth wheelchair basketball game, free face painting and many other family activities. This project is a joint effort by CVS Caremark, Boundless Playground, the Houston Parks and Recreation Department and the Houston Parks Board. The park will serve an estimated 1,000 children in this zip code who have a disability that may restrict their play at a traditional playground.
