On The Fly - Low Res
by KaleidoscopePhotos
The Northern Harrier also known as the Hen Harrier (Circus cyaneus) is a hawk that is commonly found on open grassland and marshes. The Northern Harrier finds food by flying slow and low just above the tall grasses looking for small prey. A curious fact about these birds is that unlike other species the male and female of the species have strikingly different appearances. The male has a white underside with a light gray back and the female is a mottled brown.
This particular bird was photographed on Sargent Beach in Matagorda County.
