For the weekend of April 2nd - 4th, 2010
Our apologies for the sparse posting and the delay in H-Town Rock this week. If you hadn't heard, our computers were stolen on Tuesday, but we managed to recover one of them. It's been an interesting week [and it'll get really interesting if we find that fucking asshole thief with our laptop]. After all that, we could really use a show or two to help take our minds off an otherwise forgettable week.
So we're quite thankful that tonight our favorite former-oyster-shucker is in town from Austin. The show is sold out, but if you're lucky enough to have bought tickets, then you'll see us at Walter's for Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears. Pro tip: show up on time for the excellent Grandfather Child tunes that'll start the show. If you couldn't score tickets, that guy that sang I'll Be [you know, the song that was playing when you felt up your prom date during the slow dance] is at House of Blues, and yes, the calendar is correct - Female Demand is playing an after hours bar at 3 AM. If you haven't seen the literate frenzy that is The Manichean, stop by Mango's tonight for their new EP release - B L A C K I E is on the bill, too boot.
Tomorrow Alicia Keys rolls through, hopefully giving the Toyota Center a better performance than the ones the Rockets have been putting on for the fans. Houstonist has plans to stop into Cactus Music for some afternoon brews before heading over to Mango's. You see, dear reader, several fine folks will be performing, including Airon Paul Dugas, Cory Derden, & the new duo of Ellis & Hart - that's Robert Ellis & Will Van Horn. Just be there.
Sunday is Easter, so go sit in a park and read, or something. There aren't any shows.
