This Saturday, violinist, whistler, incessant live music-looper, and incredibly creative guy, Andrew Bird will be taking stage at the House of Blues. Houstonist had a brief chat with Bird discussing his influences, lyrics and what someone attending his live show might expect.

Our picks for the month include a few new artists, including Illinois, White Rabbits and Coconut Records (which is actually a new moniker for Rushmore actor and Phantom Planet leader Jason Schwartzman); and tunes off the latest Go! Team, Son Volt and Over The Rhine records. We also threw in some earlier favorites from Andrew Bird, Ray LaMontagne, and Neko Case (plus, we threw in her band The New Pornographers – yes, we have a thing for Neko). We figured that it’d be best to throw in a classic, too (Van Morrison). To wrap up the iMix, we included some whoopee-making music, courtesy of one of our favorite cable shows/bands, Flight of the Conchords.
