::Nights on Blue Bayou: City Soundscapes:: Tonight brings us the second installment of the Buffalo Bayou Partnership's Nights on Blue Bayou series. You may remember Houstonist's note on the fabulous new Blue Bayou, aka the Sabine-to-Bagby Promenade. This springtime weather won't last for long, so while the evenings are still cool and relatively bug-free, get over to the bayou this Saturday for a little nighttime fun. Nights on Blue Bayou will have star gazing with the HMNS George Observatory volunteers, boat rides, park food concessions, astrology readings, storytelling, night hikes and glow-in-the-dark face painting. In case you...
Spend the Night on Blue Bayou Join the Buffalo Bayou Partnership tonight as they kick-off a year long series of stargazing, boat rides, storytelling and more along the Sabine-to-Bagby Promenade. The newest addition (and possibly our favorite) to the Buffalo Bayou hike and bike and trails, gives Houstonians multiple access points to bayou canoeing. The awarding-winning, and might we add, spectacular-looking, unique blue lighting creates a much needed outdoor friendly environment for nearby downtown,...
Houstonist is a big fan of the developing parkway system along Buffalo Bayou downtown. Sure, we knew the permanent fixtures would make it, but we worried that all the nice landscaping would have floated out to sea. But, as it turns out, it didn't: Aside from some silt and trash that the water deposited, the park looks as good as new, the Chronicle reports.
So here's a civic project to get excited about: Tonight, Buffalo Bayou Partnership will host "Blue Bayou," a party to celebrate the opening of the Sabine to Bagby Promenade, a new park along Buffalo Bayou from downtown to the Sabine Street Bridge. The $15 million park — which doubles as a flood-control project — includes 2 miles of hike and bike trails linking the Allen Parkway/Memorial Drive trails with Sesquicentennial Park, 12 new street-to-bayou stairways...
