Over at the Chronicle's City Hall blog, Mike Snyder notes that veteran television newswoman Linda Ellerbee has taken a stand in the controversy over proposed special protections for the Old Sixth Ward. Houstonist got all artsy last week, with opera and art exhibits, so this week let's have some low-key fun in honor of Labor Day. Friday, September 1 At Downtown Aquarium, have some spicy fun. You only have until Sunday to catch The Heritage Society’s exhibition Houston From Behind the Lens, which premiered during this year’s FotoFest. The exhibition includes many photographs of Houston from the 1920s through the 1990s. It’s a good representation of our progress throughout the last century. As we at Houstonist started our day, the Buzz's Brother Rod was playing a crowd favorite "Drive Thru Sing-a-Long" during which courageous contestants festively sang "Deck the Halls," hoping an unknowing drive-thru attendant would chime in with the chorus.
