Mayor Bill White, who just happens to be one of the fittest mayors in the country, officially announced the date of the 3rd annual Tour de Houston. The bike ride (sponsored by Guaranty Bank) will take place on Saturday, March 17th, beginning and ending downtown in front of City Hall.

We checked our bank account today and had to fight the urge to pick up the phone and call mom and dad for a handout loan. Things are looking bleak our immediate financial future. Good thing there’s a big ass (free) party happening this weekend! It’s better known as the Westheimer Block Party.

Men's Fitness maagzine, which ranked Houston No. 5 on its list of America's fattest cities, will visit Houston this weekend as part of a 10-stop tour of the country's fittest and fattest cities. MF fitness experts will be on hand from 6 a.m. to noon Saturday at City Hall to offer diet and exercise tips and subject us to entice us with activities like a jumping jack contest. There'll also be chances to win gyn memberships and athletic gear — which, according to Men's Fitness, none of us will ever use.
