Houston's Black Congress has been hailed by many in our scene as one of the top bands in town, both musically and performance-wise. They are certainly no slackers onstage - we caught them on Saturday night at the Girls Rock Camp benefit - and even with the limited space that Dean's offers, frontman Bryan Jackson was still energetic and captivating.

This'll be a better-late-than-never post, but we'd rather spread the delayed word than remain silent about one of the coolest things happening in town tonight: the Girls Rock Camp benefit at Dean's Credit Clothing.
Shoot, you didn't think we would leave you in the lurch again, did you? Houstonist has been trolling those interwebs, finding the snippets of Houston music news. Shebus! We've let a whole month go by without posting Rock Talk, and we're most apologetic. SXSW threw off our schedule originally, and right when we were ready to get back into the game, the now notorious theft occured. We've still been hoarding news, however - and while you may have read some of this elsewhere already, we're more than happy to relay it to you.
Houstonist got waylaid by car troubles this week [you would not believe how hard it is to find a pair of 15" 20-spoke alloy wheels for a '92 Volvo in this town], but we've been cribbing notes the whole time. Rock Talk might be a day late, but it is definitely not a bit short. Here's your weekly update on the Houston scene.
Yikes! It's been far too long since we've updated you. Not terribly so, but we feel pretty bad about it. Our apologies for the delay, we've had an unusually busy schedule.
