Friday! We are so excited about the recent football successes of our Cougars! This weekend, they "kick off" Conference USA play against UTEP (University of Texas El Paso) at 8:00 p.m. Saturday. We'll be watching, so you be watching!! And now for something completely girlie - In The Pink! We have to have pink drinks this weekend, as the 2009 Komen Houston Race for the Cure® is tomorrow! What? You're not walking? You forgot to support your friends who are walking? Follow this link, rightchere and go to the last "dot" under "What's New at the Affiliate" and donate $10 (you'll also be entered to win a one-of-a-kind quilt!).
You're invited to stop by the Nordstrom Galleria location tomorrow between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to meet Denise Dameris Hazen, author of "Treat Her Like a Princess: How to Help Your Girlfriend with Breast Cancer" for a very special book signing. Denise faced Stage 3 breast cancer and won! Having endured a double mastectomy, seventeen rounds of chemotherapy and six weeks of daily radiation treatments - she emerged stronger. The treatment itself can get a girl down, but not this one! She fought with determination and unfettered positiveness - with perhaps a touch of sass for good measure.
You know those little pink ribbons you've been seeing everywhere lately? Well, that's because October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM). NBCAM is not only a means of raising money to find a cure for breast cancer, but also a reminder to pay attention to your own breast health (if you're a woman) and to make sure the women in your life are paying attention to their breast health, too.
