A recent venture to our closest Cafe Express resulted in our sampling the Bleu Cheese Bacon Burger, to which we added avocado (nice addition and enough to share with our lunch companion). Albeit we are not fond of chains, Cafe Express has never let us down for quality and quantity - it is pricey-ish, however. Falling into our "gucci burger" category, along with Pappa's Burgers, but also worth the price, is this particular specimen....

So imagine you're an illegal immigrant who gets a job under a program that would help you get American citizenship, and then you find out the necessary paperwork wasn't filed by the deadline, so you get fired. That's the situation a group of immigrants working for Houston-based Cafe Express have found themselves in — and they've filed suit against Wendy's International, Cafe Express's parent company, over it.

So now we know what kinds of stuff will be in the new downtown park: and it's, uh, park stuff. The $81 million, 12-acre park in front of the George R. Brown Convention Center will feature a large pond, a putting green, a great lawn, an ampitheater, interactive fountains and two restaurants run by Schiller Del Grande (of Cafe Annie and Cafe Express fame).
