We were starting to wonder whether anything was going to happen with Houston Pavilions, the retail/entertainment/residential/office complex planned for three blocks on the south end of downtown. After all, the land sale was completed in mid-January, and we haven't heard much since House of Blues and Lucky Strike signed on as tenants. But now there is news: The developers have secured $140 million in financing and groundbreaking is set for Nov. 6.

This has really been the month for speculation about Houston Pavilions, the proposed downtown retail, office and residential complex. First came the news that the land sale was complete for the three blocks HP is supposed to sit on, and then today we have word that House of Blues has signed on as the project's first major tenant.
Looks like the rumored Houston Pavilions shopping and entertainment complex downtown may be a step closer to reality — the company that owned the three blocks between Main, Polk, Dallas and Caroline has completed the sale of the land and agreed to lease its garage at 1313 Main St. to the project developers.
