Houstonist has an active and amazing Flickr photo group. We receive many, many photos of Houston and the surrounding areas every day and unless you are an active visitor to our photo pool many of these photos go unnoticed. So in a weekly effort to bring you more amazing photos from Houstonist readers and photographers, we are going to feature a block of photos submitted to our Flickr photo group. The images will be dug up from deep within our photo pool archives and we hope to expose you to even more wonderful Houston photography. more ›

After much anticipation, Sugarbaby’s finally opened its doors this past summer. As a rule of thumb, Houstonist always likes to give these big openings a bit of time to iron out wrinkles before we come in. In the meantime, we had images of a Houston version of Magnolia Bakery in NYC and Sprinkles in LA. And when we finally walked in, it took us a bit to take in the interior - all black, white... more ›

Falling into our "gucci burger" category, along with Pappa's Burgers, but also worth the price, is this particular specimen.... more ›

We at Houstonist spend more time playing board games than we’d like to admit. In fact, a few staffers have ongoing games of Scrabble, Sorry and 90’s Trivial Pursuit (and on occasion Literary Trivial Pursuit, the hardest game ever). In order to get out of our apartments we’ll often go to local shops and restaurants to get our game on. The following is a list of our favorite and least favorite spots. FAVORITES 1.... more ›

Houstonist found the holiday spirit Friday night at the opening of the Holiday Lights in Hermann Park. The city and the Hermann Park Conservancy have ringed the park's reflecting pool (above) and McGovern Lake with displays of lights; even the pedal boats are decorated. If that's not enough to get you feeling merry, the park is also dotted with speakers blasting Christmas favorites from the likes of Ella Fitzgerald and der Bingle. more ›
