Have you been to an emergency room lately? They're much busier places than they used to be, and many of the people using them probably shouldn't be — at least Harris County thinks so. That's why, starting tomorrow, the county will make it a little harder for people with non-urgent needs to use ERs at public hospitals. At county hospital ERs, staff will begin screening people who come in to determine whether they really need care right away or can be diverted to community health clinics, a move officials hope will cut ER traffic by 20 percent. more ›
