The fastest way to a culture's "heart" is through your belly and proper dining etiquette (lest you offend, which may explain some "bad" service), and via bus. Yes, that sounds wrong, as anyone who has ever utilized a bus to travel a long way can tell you, you can and will stop in every wide spot in the road that appears inhabited. Perhaps that is why it's an inexpensive manner in which to travel. We digress, this is a very localized bus trip and there will be food at every stop - WHOOT. This weekend there is a fabulous looking, very affordable way you can learn more about not only the cuisines of Pakistan, Thailand, China and the Phillipines, but, culture-specific dining etiquette (so you are not the ugly American when you dine out - the better to impress your date, afterall) and cooking methodologies. Join the Asia/Pacific American Heritage Association this Saturday, July 12th from 9:30 a.m. until approximately 3:00 p.m. and take a gastronomic tour that spans four restaurants and costs a mere $35 for non-members, or $25 for members. For information or assistance with tickets, please phone 713.784.1112.
