This just in from a tip on the Houston Architecture info forum - there is a blaze near Wilshire Village apartments located at West Alabama and Dunlavy streets.

Some time today, while repairs were being made at KPFT, an accidental fire broke out causing damage to the roof and interior parts of the building. The building was evacuated while HFD extinguished the fire. There were no injuries.

A tire on Southwest Airlines Flight 519 caught fire after touching down at Houston's Hobby Airport. Tire failure (blow out) was the likely cause. Fortunately, the fire was extinguished and passengers were evacuated safely via emergency slides. No significant injuries are being reported at this time and air traffic is being allowed to flow in and out of HOU.

It was your typical Friday night on the 3700 block of Main. There were bands playing at both The Continental Club and Shoeshine Charley's Big Top Lounge, The Mink was minding its own business serving drinks and Tacos-A-Go-Go were catering to their usual crowd of taco munchers when the evening started to really get hot! A fire erupted this morning at a Sharpstown-area public housing development mostly populated by senior citizens.
