Back in July of last year we discussed Grace Community Church's plans to build two enormous crosses at both of its campuses - one on I-45 north in the Woodlands/Spring and the other at I-45 south between Scarsdale and Dixie Farm Road. While waiting for these to go up, Grace's south campus rival Sagemont Church put up a 170-foot tall cross just a few miles south. The huge white cross on the western side of I-45 and the beltway is a testament not only to how Christian Sagemont is, but also how much faster they are at putting up large symbols.

Houston makes it into the national news with the expected frequency of the fourth-largest city in the United States. Too often it's for terrible things -- like a mother drowning her children or a spurned wife running down her husband in a hotel parking lot or a man shooting burglars at his neighbor's house -- but sometimes it's for downright silly things, too.
