Many, many moons ago, when most of our 11 readers were just in diapers or better yet, not even born, there was a mega concert event that occurred at various times in both Dallas and Houston called The Texas Jam. The Texas Jam was legendary with huge names in rock headlining an all day concert.
If you're keeping up with us lately, you've probably noticed our keen affection for photography over the last few weeks. With last weekend's opening party of our current Photo Show exhibit at M2 Gallery, and today's DirtyFeet introspective, we can't seem to get enough of these snap happy shutterbugs.
Downtown is the place to be for Cinco de Mayo, everything's waiting for you! Commonly confused with Mexico's Independence Day - tomorrow is a celebration of General Seguin's victory over French occupational forces in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. There's the Bayou City Crawfish Festival (which benefitsTexas EquuSearch - and has a mechanical bull that Sissy can ride!), the 7th Annual Dragon Boat Festival, held at Allen's Landing (1000 Commerce) AND Mas...

No lines were memorized, no one yelled "ACTION" but her final film, video really, has been aired and sold. Reported to have fetched $500,000 as Splash News & Picture Agency (read: paparazzi outfit) peddled a video showing paramedics administering CPR to Anna Nicole Smith, as she is being wheeled out of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel. Apparently, the video is somewhat non-descript, as you cannot view her face, or even her hair - much less...
So here we are in the first full day of a World Without Anna Nicole — and though she's gone, the news isn't likely to stop anytime soon. Today, the medical examiner's office in Broward County, Fla., will conduct an autopsy on Smith to see if it can determine how she died, and closer to home, experts say her legal battles will probably stay in the courts for quite some time. First, what we know...
FoxNews has confirmed that one of Houston's own, Anna Nicole Smith has passed away. Born Vickie Lynn Hogan on November 28, 1967 in Houston, Texas the "Reality TV Star" and former TrimSpa spokeswoman (who was just included in a class-action suit against the company) has passed away in Hollywood, Florida. She was found unresponsive in her hotel room at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel - where she had been photographed at a boxing match earlier...
We've heard plenty about Houston's escalating crime rate. First, the thugs targeted Oscar and the Cookie Monster, then expensive watches, and now — rock memorabilia? Yep, it's true: Early Thursday, burglars hit the Hard Rock Cafe downtown. The story comes from KTRK, which had very few details — in fact, the station didn't know what was stolen, though it did say at least three items of rock memorabilia are missing. The Houston Hard Rock's collection...
Even though it was a fairly bad place to actually see a sporting event, and an even worse place to see a concert, the Astrodome has a place in Houstonist's heart (and in our logo). We remember fondly the loud upholstery, the scoreboard, the inexplicably addictive Dome Dogs, the Great Moments in Sports. So it's been sad to see the Dome sitting there empty in the shadow of the new Reliant Stadium — and it's been interesting to see how people plan to save the cavernous stadium.
