Houston's big traffic circle is about to get confusing: Beginning today, various parts of the circle around the Mecom Fountain will be closed while workers install a huge storm sewer running from Main and Montrose to Brays Bayou. Today, the southeast side of the circle — the side closest to Hermann Park — will close, meaning all traffic will be diverted to the west side. The ground beneath the MetroRail line near Hermann Park continues staging its own little transit strike today. A water line leak closed a section of the line near San Jacinto and Hermann Drive when it washed support out from under the track late Sunday; though city crews have repaired the pipe, air pockets were found under the track this morning. Officials said the track could reopen late Thursday if no more problems are found.... more ›

MetroRail service will be delayed during morning rush hour today as engineers test the soil underneath the light rail track at San Jacinto and Hermann Drive, where a water leak washed out track support late Sunday. The city finished initial work on the broken water line this morning, but Metro wants to be sure the track is stable enough to resume service. A broken water line is causing delays on the MetroRail line today in the Museum District. The break is at the corner of San Jacinto and Hermann Drive at the north end of Hermann Park; it washed out support from under the track nearby, which will require repair after today's rush hour service.
