Good morning, Houston. So you say you're a Dynamo fan, eh? Well, here's your chance to prove it: The back-to-back MLS champs are auctioning off a chance to get close to the team's two MLS cups — literally. If you win the auction, the cups will be dropped off at your house on Christmas Eve and picked up Dec. 26; in between, you can do whatever you want with 'em (within reason, of course). Best of all, the money raised will benefit Casa de Esperanza, an organization that helps kids in crisis. Break out your checkbooks and bid — the auction ends at 5 p.m. today. more ›

So we're interested to see how a proposal to overhaul the train works out: Will it preserve what we love... more ›

The Planning Partnership, a Toronto firm hired to create a development plan for Main Street, held the workshop, which was meant to get the public's input on how to guide future construction along the corridor. Because the MetroRail line is already in place and major buildings already stand along Main, planning will... more ›

In a move Houstonist is sure will delight MetroRail's detractors, improvements to the Hermann Park train will make it a sort of intrapark commuter system giving access to various parts of the park — and, yes, a connection to the light rail line. The route change, part of a park renovation plan approved by City Council, will add two stops to the Hermann Park train and give it a little more to do than travel... more ›

Houstonist found the holiday spirit Friday night at the opening of the Holiday Lights in Hermann Park. The city and the Hermann Park Conservancy have ringed the park's reflecting pool (above) and McGovern Lake with displays of lights; even the pedal boats are decorated. If that's not enough to get you feeling merry, the park is also dotted with speakers blasting Christmas favorites from the likes of Ella Fitzgerald and der Bingle. more ›
