Houstonist has an active and amazing Flickr photo group. For once, there's a reason to watch 60 Minutes beyond Andy Rooney's senile rants. Everyone's favorite hometown anti-hero, Roger Clemens, will be featured on Sunday's episode of the ABC news magazine, talking with his personal friend Mike Wallace about the steroid use allegations that surfaced as part of the Mitchell Report last month. Ever since the report came out, Clemens has issued a series of denials, starting with a press release, working up to a YouTube video, and culminating with a softly-lit sit down on prime time tv. If you've ever been driving around in the 'burbs and wondered who names the streets, well, it just might be someone like Susan Vreeland-Wendt, who the Chronicle's Nancy Sarnoff interviewed yesterday. Vreeland-Wendt, marketing director for The Woodlands Operating Co., has come up with more than 1,600 names for roads, parks and neighborhoods in The Woodlands in the last 20 years. Turns out she gets inspiration from all kinds of places: paint charts, wine bottles, songs, poetry — even . "Whenever I travel I bring a note pad," she told the Chron. "It's become an obsession. It was your typical Friday night on the 3700 block of Main. There were bands playing at both The Continental Club and Shoeshine Charley's Big Top Lounge, The Mink was minding its own business serving drinks and Tacos-A-Go-Go were catering to their usual crowd of taco munchers when the evening started to really get hot! Christmas is a week away (great googlymoogly - we still have some last minute gifting to get) and if you had planned to have lots of different cookies on hand, or made up to take to your rotten coworkers, and haven't quite managed to bake, a lot. This is a super simple, very fun way to host a gathering, have a good excuse to get your nog on, and have a respectable assortment of goodies. First you plan a very simple, stress-free menu and drinks - anything from chicken n' dumplin's with a nice chilled white wine or some mulled wine/cider, to charcuterie and cheeses with luscious egg nog. You bake one batch of cookies and ask all of your guests to do the same. Everyone lays out their cookies on platters, and each guest can get a paper box with waxed paper, or even some cute brown paper bags with "zip top" plastic bags and share.
