Houstonist has a new, kickass mobile site thanks to Neil Epstein, Ist-averse Techno Czar. All 11 of you readers out there trying to hit our site from your phone (and other mobile devices) were previously taken to a crappy minimalist type web site that appeared to have been designed by some who just discovered the wonders of this thing called the Internet.
Tis the season for holiday parties, which means you'll likely be exhibiting some poor judgment at some point like drinking bourbon way too fast at your company holiday party, biting cheeks or trying to use "Do you know you look very elegant?" as a pick-up line. Any of the aforementioned behavior should tip off your friends that you probably are not the best choice of wheelman to get you and yours back home in one piece.
Paging all music nerds and iPhone junkies. Two enterprising Austinites, Jon Loyens and Bryon Jacob, have created a website designed to place the full South by Southwest line up in the palm of your hand. Their site, sxswinfo.com, is optimized for viewing on your trendy little gadget. Just navigate to it via your iPhone browser. The site also works on laptops, but did not seem to load correctly on Houstonist's CrackBerry BlackBerry.

However, bitches need not apply nor do "asshats." Here's a few more that we found interesting. There was very little else for Londonist to be concerned with when the threat of a Tube strike became a very unpleasant reality. The inconvenience was extreme: there aren't many alternatives to the Tube in London despite the best efforts of the Londonist team to get everyone from A to B. Brighter news came in the form of the first ever female Yeoman Warder, or Beefeater as the position is more commonly known, and...
We told you and told you: if you got your iPhone earlier this summer, you were going to rue the day they marked it down (not to mention the day the site for hacking it went live). That day, ladies and gents is...now. The cheaper-iPhone announcement, however, pales in comparison to other things Apple's got for us, just in time for months of drooling before we all write up our lists and mail them to...

"Summertime and the livins easy" until you mow the lawn and sweat your ass off in the process. Why not relax and let the kid down the street mow your yard? They could use the money to pay for their iPhone service plan and you could use the break. Wouldn't it be satisfying to sit in the shade sippin' a cold beverage while s/he sweats to death? All you need is the perfect drink....
LAist was comped front row seats by the Dodgers due to Malingering being struck by a foul ball last week, and she came back with some great photos, and earlier made fun of 4th of July on Venice Beach. Phillyist was busy doing the Fourth of July up right, exercising their...
So we survived the iPhone frenzy over the weekend. As we mentioned before, some people who waited in long lines to purchase their new fruit from the Apple tree we’re even more frustrated when they had trouble activating the phones.
Good morning, Houston. Were you one of the folks who lined up Friday to pick up an iPhone? And have you gotten it activated yet? If so, you're lucky: A lot of people are having trouble getting their shiny new toys activated, and until they do, none of the so-called Jesus phone's features — not even its alarm clock — will work. Though most customers have been able to activate their phones in a...
Local tech news in a compact, digital format. After a bit of a hiatus, The Tech Buzz is back. It's not new or improved, just back. iPhone Madness We're not going go too in-depth with the iPhone as it has been covered by just about every major media outlet in the U.S. this past week. What we are going to do is provide you with this link to two local geeks and their reports...
What with Paris Hilton's release earlier this week and the upcoming celebration of American Independence (sorry, Londonist!), we've been thinking a lot about freedom. Freedom to vote, freedom to choose, and most importantly, freedom to blog. Here are a few things we're happy we've been free to blog about this week. Being the nation's capital, DCist felt especially proud to let freedom ring this week by exposing the really important issues, like how sad they...
Good morning, Houston. Are you sick of hearing about the iPhone? So are we. Some people are wondering if the iPhone will be able to live up to all the hype its been getting, and we can't imagine that any phone could unless it also serves as, say, a teleporting device. Let's just get to the news: >> Missing Polka King: Friends and fans grew concerned when Bobby Jones, billed as Wharton County's "Polka...
As the world holds its breath, teetering precariously on the cusp of the Super Bowl (well, at least in America), the wheels of the -ists keep on turning. Austinist was in a musical frame of mind as they listened to the new Shins album, updated the SXSW band listings and got called "punk rock" for their efforts by MTV. And an ice storm swept through the area. Bostonist said goodbye to John Kerry's plans...
