It may not be evening when you read this, but the time has come to put Houstonist to bed. We got word from our parents at Gothamist a few weeks ago that they felt it was time to shutter the site, due to things like statistics, advertising, and the general plight of maintaining a journalistic publication in today's economic climate.
To speak from a very personal angle for a moment, I'd like to personally thank everyone who's every contributed content, read an article, invited us to a performance or event, and really anybody who has ever laid eyes upon the site. I've really enjoyed the opportunity I've had as Editor this year, and I can truly say that I've met a fantastic amount of people and discovered a tremendous amount of music [my beat, if you hadn't figured that out yet] over the course of my tenure at Houstonist.
